Medieval Three-Piece Cutlery Set, hand-forged, with leather pouch

This hand-forged set of medieval cutlery is composed of a knife, a two-pronged fork and a spoon. In the Middle Ages, such cutlery sets were a staple of any traveller’s gear, a fact reflected in their German name – Kutscherbesteckor Fuhrmannbesteck – which literally translates to coachman’s cutlery or waggoner’s cutlery.

The knife has a single, slightly ground (not sharp) edge, but the shape of its blade also makes it usable as an eating pick or awl. Each piece features a handle that was left in its unpolished state on purpose, as the oxide scale layer and hammer marks from the forging process lend a rustic character to this cutlery set.

The 3-piece set comes complete with a brown suede case / pouch that makes it easy to carry along with you, for example in a bag or hung from a belt.

Although this travel cutlery set is not rust-proof and hence not food safe, it is still a great addition to any medieval reenactor’s equipment and an ideal prop for medieval markets, medieval camps and re-enactment, living history or LARP events!
