Leg armour (cuisses) in the high Gothic style, based on an example from Germany dated to the late 15th century AD.
Armour and armour parts of the 15th century were typically highly decorative. Due to the increasing effectiveness of offensive weapons, they usually covered the whole body.
These leg protections are made of 1.2 mm thick steel. They are fitted with adjustable leather straps on the back and beautifully detailed buckles in the high Gothic style. The front of the legs is adorned with forged fleurs-de-lys and streamlined ridges across the thighs and below the poleyns (knee caps).
