Plumbata, Roman Dart, Short Version
The Plumbata, also called Mattiobarboli , was a short and light throwing dart used in ancient times up to the middle ages. This weapon was already used in the year 500 BC, later by the roman legions, by Germanic tribes during the Migration Period and until the late middle ages, especially in Byzantium.
The length and shape of the tip of plumbatae often varied. This replica features a blunt barbed iron spike, which is attached to the wooden shaft along with the weight.
