The Swept Hilt Rapier came up in Europe around the early 17th century. It was the time of the Renaissance where swordplay with the rapier was considered an essential part of the education of the noblemen and was often used in resolving conflicts among them.
This Rapier is hand-forged from high carbon steel, ground and well polished. It is close to the contempoary originals in weight, size and workmanship. The wooden grip is wrapped with steel wire and the elaborate guard is an all-steel construction. The spring steel blade is unsharpened.
Delivery includes a matching leather scabbard with steel fittings.
