Viking Axe, Cast Steel, Type C
- 115.00€
Axes were important tools and weapons in the everyday life of the Vikings. They were used for chopping down trees, woodworking, or in battle. The axe heads were made of different materials such as stone, bone, or metal, and had different shapes and sizes, depending on their purpose. Many Viking axes were elaborately adorned and served not only as practical tools, but also as status symbols. Today, Viking axes are popular collectors' items, and often wielded in films, TV series and video games to convey the image of the wild and fearless Vikings.
Shapewise, the head of the Viking axe we offer here is classified as a Petersen type C. The blade of this bearded axe is made of EN45 high carbon steel, and engraved with a Norse motif. The handle is made of robust ash wood and wrapped in leather.
Please note that this early medieval axe is not a battle ready weapon. It is primarily designed as a collector's or decoration/display piece and is by no means suited for combat reenactment. Besides its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a proud warrior just perfect.
